The International Short Film Festival Brigand Shorts 2009 is set for Saturday, Aug. 29.

The free street festival will be held from 12-6 p.m. Broad Street will be closed from 7th to 8th Street and all manner of film related businesses, universities and schools will be demonstrating and exhibiting their contributions to the film community in Chattanooga. There will also be live music by Downstream, 4-star food, beer and games for the kids.

The 10 short film winners of Brigand Shorts 2009 will be shown inside the Tivoli from 12-6 p.m. and tickets will be sold for $5 at the Tivoli box office.

Over 100 short films from 15 countries around the world were submitted, and the judges have selected 10 to show during the festival. Each official selection will receive 5% of admission dollars, as well as guaranteed international distribution from IndieFlix.com. The other 50% of the admission dollars goes to the non-profit partner, UnBroken.

The awards show and premier of Thick as Thieves will be shown at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available by calling 642-TIXS. There are only 1,762 seats available and this show is expected to sell out quickly.

Brigand Pictures will have DVD's, posters and T-shirts for sale all day. Nothing will be priced over $10.

An all access pass is available for $20 and comes with a gift bag filled with coupons, a special edition Thick as Thieves production photo DVD (over 3,000 photos), a DVD with all 10 official short film selections of Brigand Shorts 2009, and downtown coupons.
